(TUCSON, AZ) Long Realty recently awarded two sales associates the Barrington Long Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Barrington Long Award is presented yearly to a sales associate to honor an individual whose professional accomplishments have made a significant and lasting impact on the field of real estate, whose life and character have earned the respect and admiration of their professional colleagues, and whose pioneering spirit and leadership have repeatedly inspired others to excel.
This year’s Barrington Long Award was given to two individuals of such nature: Verna Van Loan and Bill Kuhn.
Van Loan, who has been a respected figure in the Tucson real estate community since 1976, has been happily ensconced in the Long Realty Foothills office since 1989. Her door has always been open to new and experienced agents alike, where she has served as a mentor to many.
Kuhn, a REALTOR out of Long Realty’s Oro Valley office, was nominated by branch manager Bob Semple. “Bill has been involved in the business for three decades as a sales associate, sales manager, branch manager and contracts manager,” said Semple. “He has hired and trained hundreds of agents and has therefore had a positive impact on our business in Tucson. He continues to be a great source of knowledge and very helpful to the agents of Oro Valley. Bill is a positive influence in our office and has the respect and admiration of all around him,” he said.
The award is named after Barrington Long, president and owner of Long Realty Company from 1952 to 1980, and son of Long Realty’s founder Roy H. Long. A life-long resident of Tucson, he was a successful businessman highly respected for living life to the fullest, being a compassionate leader, building trust among people, and perhaps most of all – for loving the real estate business.

(TUCSON, AZ) Long Realty recently awarded Mary Dorais with the Samuel H. Woods Community Service Award. The Samuel H. Woods Award is presented annually by Long Realty Company to one sales associate who best exemplifies a commitment to the values of community involvement and “service above self.” Such values were the hallmark of one of Long Realty’s most distinguished former members, Sam Woods.
Each year, a donation is made to the Samuel H. Woods Memorial Scholarship Fund in the name of the award recipient, administered through the University of Arizona Foundation; this Foundation awards a scholarship to a deserving University of Arizona student in the area of Regional Land Development in the Department of Geography.
Dorais, an agent who works out of Long Realty’s Foothills office, has been active in several local charities, including acting as a volunteer in many capacities at the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation for the past 15 years. Mary has also served on the board of directors for six years at Emerge, a local shelter for abused women and children. She is a past board member of the Ronald McDonald House and the Volunteer Center of Tucson.
